We have 3x HP ProLiant DL360 Gen9 servers, two of which were spec'd out for virtualisation hosts and the third was a physical DC, with limited RAM, single CPU and lacking network expansions. We have moved the DC to virtual, freeing up that server and sourced some refurbished components for the server, to bring it in line spec wise with the other two DL360s. This included purchasing a HP Ethernet 10Gb 2-port 560SFP+ Adapter and a HPE StoreFabric SN1000Q 16GB 2-port PCIe Fibre Channel Host Bus Adapter. I've installed them and noticed that the PCIe daughter board has a 6-pin power connector and it got me wondering whether I need to connect auxiliary power or not. If I recall correctly, PCIe usually delivers 75W through a slot (though I'm thinking of consumer boards). I can't turn off one of the other servers to open it up to check how that is configured. While I think this is for more powerful expansion cards, such as a graphics card, I don't think I'd need it for these NICs, though I just wanted to see if I can get a second opinion.
